The Church of Our Lady of Fatima (Igreja Nossa Senhora de Fátima), also known as “Monastery of the Heralds of the Gospel of Maranduba” (Mosteiro dos Arautos do Evangelho de Maranduba) or “Castle of the Heralds of the Gospel” (Castelo dos Arautos do Evangelho), is a place of singular beauty in Ubatuba.
With a construction different from everything you’ll see in the city, the Monastery has gothic and medieval architecture, looking very much like a castle, and is built on an area of almost 9 thousand square meters.
It is located at the top of the hill, near Maranduba beach (Praia da Maranduba) and Pulso beach, that is, in the beginning of Ubatuba for those who come from Caraguatatuba.
It is a wonderful place to visit in Ubatuba. It has magnificent stained glass windows and a luxurious interior. It also has more than a hundred rooms, towers with guardhouses, and gates with 8 meters of height.
One of the highlights of the place is the garden with the 13 replicas of the prophets, work of Aleijadinho.
Besides having a unique architecture, the church also draws attention because it is a spiritual retreat to this day in Ubatuba. Traditional masses with gregorian chants are part of the celebration in latin are held there every sunday.
From the top of the hill you also have the opportunity to glimpse the beaches, the sea and nearby islands, a breathtaking beauty.

How to get there
The access is by dirt road, from Km 77.5 of the Rio-Santos road, which also leads to Caçandoca beach (Praia da Caçandoca). Going 2 km by this access, we arrive at the place – next door there is an entrance of a closed condominium of high standard.
